Restaurante Mirador Carmen de San Miguel is nestled in a place steeped in history and magic, on the slopes of the Alhambra in Granada and at the foot of Torres Bermejas.
Located in the upper part of the popular neighborhood of Realejo, an old medieval Jewish city, it has been a silent witness to historical events such as the flight of the last Nasrid king Muhammad XII, Boabdil for Christians, and the passage of emblematic characters such as the illustrious Russian musician Mikhail Glinka, who during the winter of 1845-1846 studied the popular music of the time installed in this carmen. Carmen
The word "Carmen" comes, as is generally accepted and is collected by the Dictionary of the Spanish language, from the Arabic-Hispanic word karm which, in its broadest meaning, means "vineyard", although in Nasrid times it designated a type of Rustic property located outside the city walls of Granada.
It offers a first-rate cultural calendar, numerous festivals and traditions and a lively atmosphere fostered by the more than 65,000 students enrolled at the University of Granada. For lovers of nature and rural tourism, the province is home to five natural parks and one national park. The peace and tranquility that is breathed in the small towns of the Alpujarra invite the visitor to stay forever. The interior areas, such as the Marquesado and the Altiplano, offer the incredible contrast of desert landscapes, almost lunar in appearance, with the lush vegetation of the surrounding mountains. All the ingredients are of local origin and full of personality in which the contrast of flavors manages to satisfy the palate with excellent sensations.
Our chefs are masters in the art of creation, having won numerous awards and recognitions, as well as excellent ratings on specialized pages. Always looking for the latest and, of course, what fully satisfies the customer, they demonstrate all their know-how and their desire to create new recipes in their dishes. In short, our cuisine is an important bastion of what has been called the New Andalusian Cuisine.
